There’s no easy English translation of the word. It’s a familiar feeling: a deep emotional ache, a yearning for something more.
A longing that no experience will satisfy, however restlessly we search.
Where does it come from, this longing, and why is it so persistent? Is it trying to tell us something, the way thirst tells us to drink, or hunger tells us to eat?
Perhaps, when nothing in this life can satisfy that longing, we’re being told that we need a radically different life.
